Dont make it affordable gives interesting reasons for cost of Volvo bus in Bangalore. If main purpose of the Volvo bus to keep the cars off the road, best thing to do is make it prohibitively expansive to own/operate car in Bangalore. Should be like Newyork where most residents don't own a car and most people depend on subway. Systems seems to work and there is no exclusive public transportation over there.
So owning a car in Bangalore must be exclusive while affordable comfortable and reliable public transportation system must be for everyone. If aim is to reduce traffic, then what Bangalore needs is a ubiquitous mass transit system which everyone uses.
